September 20th, 2007 Mobilization
I appreciate your support very very much! All the letters, packages, and cards that I have received here have been so encouraging and refreshing! I can’t say thank you enough to everyone that took a moment or two just to send me a bit of encouragement and love. The time has come now that I am packing things up and preparing to come home. I was recently notified that we need to inform friends and family to stop sending mail to me here in Iraq. The mail takes such a long time to arrive here that it is possible for me to leave Baghdad before it arrives. Yeah, it’s a pretty crazy cool thought
God bless you and prosper you. Stayed tuned for a follow on mailing address
Until next time…
P.S. I apologize for my sparse disemination of information and stories. I’ll try to do better in the following weeks, but it is going to get worse as I am preparing to redeploy stateside. A bitter sweet situation… later gator

September 8th, 2007 Mobilization
Man, the first week of September is over; it’s a great feeling!
On Friday, 20070907, we had a mess of briefings, an awards ceremony and the monthly mandatory fun event “The Sapper Call.” It made for a very long day, but it had it’s highlights. I went to breakfast before the briefings started and savored a pretty good western style omlette while I watched the Indianapolis Colts play the New Orleans Saints. While I enjoyed the omlette, it caused me to miss dearly the renowned IHOP and their delightful breakfast menu. Breakfast got even better as I watched the Colts make their first drive on the Saints to take the lead in the third quarter. Even though I didn’t get to see the field goal, I was very pleased as I strolled out of the DFAC to my briefings. Later that day I was informed that the Colts skunked the Saints in the fourth quarter; I was excited to hear that Indiana was rockin’ out in distant lands far away.
During the awards ceremony, I got a couple medals, but was ticked because they dropped “The Third” off of my name when the MC called me up to receive my award. It’s not the end of the world, and hey, I’m increasing the eye candy on my uniform.
I’ll look really good next year when I get married with all the new ribbons and medals!
After the main award was past out I got to help present all the follow on awards to my soldiers and the rest of the company. Presenting the awards to the soldiers was really cool; I had a lot of fun with my guys as they passed through the line to receive their awards. The Sapper Call was a painful extension of the awards ceremony. I think I have to go to another one next month.
Oh well, such is my life I suppose.
Fortunately, the following day, which is today 20070908, I was “off” of the street so I could take a bit of a break to finish some reports and prepare some briefings. I also had the amazing delight of spending some wonderfully refreshing time with Rachel, my precious, beautiful, and inspiring fiancee! Once my Love slipped into her Never-Neverland, I set to work on my projects for the day. I actually started boxing some stuff up. It was pretty exciting and kind of frustrating at the same time. I managed to make a small dent in the mess of my room and completed the process by mailing my first footlocker HOME to Indianapolis from Baghdad!
Hopefully, I can get most of my stuff mailed out so I don’t have to carry too much home with me. I have a feeling it will be a long ride home when it comes. Well, that’s all I have for now. I need to go grab some dinner and finish my reports. God bless you and prosper you. Remember, I’m not crazy, I’m on the brink of sanity…
Until next time…
