Gym

Holy Cow… my body hurts, but it feels so good. I’ve actually been working out consistantly for the last 2 weeks! ;) I feel good, really good; almost like a soldier should :-D

I can’t believe I’m 25 now. I’ve done some pretty amazing stuff and life keeps getting better! This morning I woke up and it was 60degrees I almost went running, but my buddy talked me into going to the gym with him :) We did some excellent weight training. And then he said, “Come on let’s do 15-20 minutes on the elliptical machine.” I was responded, “What’s that?” :-D We climbed up onto our machines, he was off and running while I was still getting oriented. Once I figured out how to go, my buddy was like, “No, go forward man! Forward” ;) Finally, I was rockin’ out. That elliptical machine was so weird and my legs burned so bad! I was like “Holy Cow, this is awful! I’d rather go run five miles.” Luckily, Gone in 60 Seconds was playing on a nearby T.V. so I was distracted reading the subtitles and watching the movie. ;) Overall the elliptical machine was a good experience; it was fun doing it with somebody else and watching the movie. :)

In the end, I’m getting back into shape. I’m not looking forward to the hot weather a whole lot, but it will be good for losing weight. The nice thing about the Army is being fit is part of your job ;) . God bless you and prosper you. Until next time…

HOT!!! :-D

Holy Cow! 75 / 80 degrees in Baghdad and I can’t find my sunscreen! YIKES :-( I know it’s around here somewhere :-S I’m used to going sledding one last time on my birthday, not going to the beach ;) :-D ! Oh well, it’s getting warmer and I’m going to make the most of it… just as soon as I find my sunscreen… otherwise I won’t be wearing PTs during the day =-O. Take care Hope your weather is looking up as well :) . Love you and miss you.

Birthday in Baghdad

We (my platoon) is all setup in the brief tent ready for the mission brief. The platoon sergeant called the manifest (roll call for everybody going on the mission) and then I started the mission brief. I noticed the guys are unusually motivated this particular afternoon, and this in turns encourages and motivates me :-D I conclude the mission brief and call everyone to their feet for a word of prayer before the mission at which time one of my soldiers walks up to me with a to-go plate from the DFAC. I’m thinking, “Wow, you grabbed dinner for me, but why are you giving it to me now?” However, when he opened up the plate there was not dinner, but actually a slice of chocolate cake and a slice of cheesecake. I was a little bit more confused when I saw the cake until everyone started singing happy birthday to me! I was like, “OH man!!! You guys are awesome! Wow” I was totally thrilled and floored at the same time. Overall, it has been a really good birthday for being in Iraq. God is awesome. I’ll talk to you later…
