Getting ready to leave

Well, this is my last post from the lush, green, state of Wisconsin. It’s going to be a short while before my next post so be patient. The good news is posts and pictures will be on location from Kuwait and then Iraq ;-) . It’s been a long day of packing, formations, and inspections; if somebody forgets something this time, they are going to be plum out of luck :-P .

I’m a little bit sad at the moment; I like plane rides though, when I get to sit by the window ;-) . Apparently, I am being equipped with nine bottles of water and three Meals Ready to Eat (MRE); I guess it’s going to be a long flight without peanuts (bummer) . It’s ok, I hear the food in Iraq is excellent (I’m totally looking forward to that :-D )!

It’s going to be a very different but good year. I miss my family and friends already, but I will be in touch. Stay tuned as I work to develop my web skills with this website and blog. God bless you and prosper you. I’ll catch you on the flip side ;-)

Field Training Exercise

Well, I was out in the field last week. 10 days of Forward Operating Base (FOB) Liberty was not the most pleasant experience, but the food was the best I’ve had since being in Wisconsin ;-) . It was hard but good training. I found out that the mission in Iraq will be to conduct Safari and Petting Zoo Operations. I’ll drive around looking for exotic wildlife “Improvised Explosive Device (IED)” (drive around gazing out the window eating pogey bait “munchies”). Once we spot possible exotic wildlife we’ll stop to pet the “wildlife” in order to (IOT) confirm or deny if it is an actual IED. Finally, operations at the FOB came to a close and we moved back to garrison and prepared for our block leave period. At this time I find myself at my wonderful girlfriend’s house visiting with her and her family getting max use out of my leave these few days :-) . Well, time is precious so I’m out.
