Platoon Leader!
Well, It’s been kind of crazy, but life is good. I now have a company commander so I’m a little less tasked and am assigned to 2nd Platoon now. It’s nice to have some free time, but I do kind of miss being the commander. He has more experience than myself so in the end it’s better this way. I’m looking forward to working more closely with one platoon though and getting to know those guys. I’m really enjoying working Charlie Company; I’ve been with them about a month or so and I already feel like family. They are a great group of guys.
I’m working on getting pictures up here, at the moment I have to gather them from the soldiers because I don’t have my camera, but it’ll get prettier up here in due time
. Also, my battalion is developing a website with pages for each company so I’ll post that link as soon as it is available.
Training is going well, with only a few frustrations. We moving closer to live fire training exercises so that will be refreshingly exciting (though I know some of you don’t want to hear that). Yesterday, we were rehearsing roll over drills and how to dismount afterward. I had to climb over the driver (who was simulating being unconscious) and executed a combat roll as I dove out of the High Mobility Multi Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV a.k.a. Hummer); it was pretty sweet! Once out I was able to extract the unconscious driver so the rest of the team could get out. Well, that is all I have for now; time to get ready for my meetings
. Until next time…
